CANNES - Europe Day

The MEDIA Programme (The European Union's support programme for the Audiovisual Sector) is organising a meeting between European (national and regional) and international film funds, professionals and policymakers in the context of Europe Day at the Cannes film festival on May 17th2010.

The objective of this meeting is to provide a forum for these actors to share experiences and to participate in a debate concerning the role of film funds and the needs of the professionals regarding public support in the context of the changing environment (digital, financial crisis, etc).

The panel session will try to bring together the:
point of views of professionals on public funding bodies / agencies
point of views of professionals on film funds current policies and agendas
needs of the professionals in the context of the changing environment (digital, financial crisis, etc)

The agenda is as follows:

14:30   Coffee and registration

15:00   Opening by Commissioner Vassiliou and Mr. Gilles Jacob

15:15   Opening by Ms Aviva Silver, presenting the agenda/objectives of the afternoon session

15:30   Shaping the future of cinema – Professionals meet the Film Funds
        - Panel discussion

17:00   End of meeting
